Death Runs on the River: remake of Laughton’s masterpiece

The classic film of 1955 Death runs on the river was adapted from novel of the same name by Davis Grubb and now a new adaptation is underway which will be edited by Scott Derrickson (Sinister, The Black Phone) of which film script will take care of it C. Robert Cargill (Sinister) and the director himself.

Cargill himself desired put the emphasis on the macabre approach that was managed to bring to the stage compared to what the 1950s allowed: “I am very excited about this project and excited to be able to talk about it”. Death runs on the river it is the story of a religious fanatic, crook and murderer who marries a widow, knowing that her late husband had hidden $10,000 to the authorities following a bank robbery. Unable to get the whereabouts of the money from his stepchildren, the criminal plots more sinister plans to find the money.

The original film was edited by the great Charles Laughtonthe only official director that led to the creation of a disturbing Gothic masterpiece that has influenced generations of filmmakers over time.
