The moment for the start of the 2026 United Cup is getting closer and closerwith numerous leading figures from both ATP and WTA tennis kicking off. It will be another edition with the rank that will be, both in terms of scores and participants, comparable to a certain extent to an ATP 500 or a WTA 500.
For Italy there will be Jasmine Paolini and Flavio Cobolli as practically certain singles players, as well as the mixed doubles formed by Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori which, given the data in hand, is the most tested (even if there is no shortage of specialists). The group is the one with France and Switzerland, and there will only be decidedly interesting challenges from a competitive point of view and in view of more important events.
In the meantime some lump sums have necessarily arrived: the first is that of Jack Draperwho will miss the entire Australian tour, including the Australian Open, given the continuing problems he has been carrying with him since the US Open. For the rest various presences that may be valid and comparisons, as mentioned, of level (as well as Iga Swiatek always ready when it comes to Poland).
Born in 2023 as heir to the ATP Cupthe United Cup has the names of USA (twice) and Germany in its roll of honour, with Italy having always played in it so far and reaching the final in the first edition, not making it past the round robin in the second and stopping in the quarter-finals in the third. It remains, however, that a lot is being placed on the Australian Open by almost everyone.
