Of all the applications we have installed on our devices, the most useful is probably Whatsapp. Completely free messaging app, connected to our mobile number, which really allows us to reach the whole world, at any time. All you need is an internet connection, a phone number, and you’re done! Voice messages, video calls, the possibility of sending all kinds of documents, photos or videos… in short, it is truly a simple application, within everyone’s reach and which you don’t have to be a computer genius to use. But something is changing.
In fact, developers are always working to improve the performance of applications, to introduce useful new features and to improve the general user experience. Even Whatsapp, in fact, is about to change profoundly. From a simple and intuitive messaging app it could increasingly transform into a real social network. Here’s what will happen in the near future and how it will change.
How will Whatsapp change: ever closer to a social network?
Since it was launched on the market for the first time, Whatsapp has already undergone profound changes. Voice messages, once unavailable, video messages and statuses were gradually introduced. A sort of rapprochement, of alignment with the other social networks that we all know. Statuses, in fact, are a bit like Instagram stories for a select few, only for those who have our mobile number. But the news shows no sign of ending and the developers are back at work improve the user experience. What’s going to happen?
This is a function still under development, so it may only be available to beta testers, i.e. those who have the beta version of the application. In the near future, if it is determined that this new feature is useful, practical and functional, you will be able to “pin” broadcast channels that we want. As everyone knows, today, you can decide to subscribe to broadcast channels to always be updated on various categories of news: football, current affairs, gossip, television and anything else.
Just go to the status screen and below you will find some suggestions of broadcast channels to subscribe to, or you can search for the ones that interest you most. A very interesting function, which resembles a similar one from Telegram, another widely used messaging app as an alternative to Whatsapp. In the future we will be able to decide which of these channels are our favorites and put them at the top of the list.
