In the midst of the Days of Play, the richest PlayStation promotion of the year, Sony users find themselves dealing with an unexpected problem: according to numerous reports available online, PlayStation Stars service is not working.
Judging by the messages published by PlayStation users, the service has stopped working between Thursday 5 June and Friday 6 June, based on the reference time zone. What might have seemed like a trivial temporary problem turned out to be much more serious than expected since then players can no longer collect points. As if that wasn’t enough, they also saw disappear from the PlayStation App those that had already accumulated in the past. At the time of writing, both in Europe and North America only a generic message appears that reads “PlayStation Stars is not available. Unfortunately, due to your age and selected region, you do not meet the enrollment requirements”even if both requirements are fully respected.
All this happens in the middle of the Days of Play and, above all, in General silence from Sony. Although the problem has persisted for several days and there are numerous complaints, PlayStation support has not yet expressed itself to reassure players and/or provide indications on the resumption of the service. Although Sony’s official channels, including the Ask PlayStation account, have already been contacted several times, they have not yet batted an eye. We are awaiting official communications.
For those who don’t know, PlayStation Stars is a loyalty program available on the PlayStation App for mobile devices that invites players to complete campaigns to earn limited edition digital collectibles or points. PlayStation Plus subscribers can also earn points by making eligible purchases within the PlayStation Store. These points can be exchanged for rare digital collectibles or PSN wallet funds.
