Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio: Giulia and Stelvio Super Sport, 1000 Miglia special series

No doubt that the new special series Alfa Romeonamed Quadrifoglio Super Sporttributes to an important story: that of Biscione’s first victory at the 1000 Miles. After the good placing of the RL in the first edition of the “most beautiful race in the world” – as Enzo Ferrari always said – the 6C 1500 Super Sport (the “Mille Miglia Speciale”) by Giuseppe Campari and Giulio Ramponi dominated the 1928 Mille Miglia. After a marathon of 1621 km, of the 82 starters only 40 reached the finish line, preceded by the slender spider Zagato which closed the race in 19 hours. minutes and 5 seconds at an average speed of 84.128 km/h. For Alfa Romeo it was the first of eleven successes at the Mille Miglia, a record that remains unbeaten. But it was also the first important victory obtained by the 6C 1500, progenitor of a new generation of Alfa Romeos designed by the brilliant Vittorio Jano. It could only be Giulia and Stelvio, the sportiest cars in the range, that pay homage to their ancestor with the special Quadrifoglio Super Sport series which will be produced in 400 units, sold all over the world: 275 for the Giulia and 175 for the Stelvio. The number of copies destined for Italy has not yet been communicated, nor at what price they will be sold.

VISIBLE CARBON

The Alfa Romeo Style Center has worked on a reinterpretation of the Quadrifoglio, a symbol that has always identified the most extreme performance in the range. For the first time in over 100 years of history of the Four-Leaf Clover, the white background of the triangle which traditionally houses the green Four-Leaf Clover with a clear contrast, gives way to black. Color that characterizes the entire look of the two cars, including the brake calipers. The use of exposed carbon is widespread: on the roof (optional for the Giulia), in the V of the central shield and for the rear-view mirror caps. The alloy wheels are burnished with five holes, 19″ for the Giulia and 21″ for the Stelvio. In addition to the metallic volcano black, the bodywork is also available in three-layer Etna red and (only for the sedan) in Alfa white.

RED FINISHES

The strong sporting character of this limited series emerges from the new red carbon finishes used for the dashboard, the central tunnel and the door panels. The front headrests have red embroidery with the “Super Sport” logo, and the model number in black. The steering wheel is covered in leather and Alcantara, with black stitching and carbon fiber inserts. The graphics of the 12.3″ digital instrumentation, set in the “telescope” behind the steering wheel, can be customized with the Race mode, exclusive to the Quadrifoglio, and which joins the already available Evolved, Relax and Heritage. No changes to the engine, which remains the 520 HP 2.9 biturbo V6 combined with the ZF automatic gearbox, with the mechanical self-locking differential (derived from the GTA) and the Akrapovic exhaust. Even in this Quadrifoglio Super Sport edition, according to the manufacturer, the Giulia and Stelvio remain the point of reference in their segments for driving dynamics and road behavior.
