In recent days, we have explained to you what the main differences are between Realme and OPPO, as well as those between Redmi and Xiaomi. Now, however, the time has come to analyze the two low-cost sub-brands of the large Chinese manufacturers and compare them with each other: what exactly changes between Realme and Redmi?

As we have already explained to you, both Realme and Redmi are gods sub-brands, that is, smartphone manufacturers connected to other companies: specifically, Realme is linked to OPPO (which also owns OnePlus), while Redmi is owned by Xiaomi (which also owns POCO). If you want to know more, we recommend you take a look at the differences between Redmi and Xiaomi.

Furthermore, both Redmi and Realme occupy the mid-range (and medium-low) market with their proposals, creating smartphones that rarely exceed 500 euros in price and which, sometimes, can drop in price to almost 100 euros: here, for example, you will find three Realme smartphones that cost very little and which, despite their low price, are great. In short, both brands they focus on value for money.

So, what exactly changes between the two brands? The difference lies mostly inapproach to the smartphone market: Redmi, in particular, is considered by many users to be the best company in the mid-range and beyond entry-level because it focuses on smartphones with few aesthetic frills (but still equipped with a certain appeal in terms of design) but with a good spec sheet and, above all, cameras that outclass those of the competition. In this market choice we can find the direction given by Xiaomi, which for years has been focusing everything on the photographic capabilities of its smartphones. If you want to know more, you can take a look at our review of Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G.

As far as Realme is concerned, however, things change: Realme focuses much more on design of its smartphones, sometimes leaving out the technical data sheet. At the beginning of 2024, for example, Realme launched the Note 12, whose form factor was created together with the master watchmakers of Rolex. Like Redmi, Realme also tends to focus a lot on the cameras of its smartphones, however, preferring the main camera compared to secondary ones. Two completely different philosophies, therefore: one aims to produce low-priced smartphones with few compromises; the other seeks excellence in some specific sectors, overshadowing the others.
