The Housemarque studio is about to announce Returnal 2, we all thought so after seeing yesterday’s teaser which anticipates the arrival of news for April 30th. But maybe things aren’t exactly like that, let’s try to clarify.
Also fueling the rumors is the Sony XDEV social message which confirms the arrival of news from Housemarque for today. Perhaps a message from Dark Horse Comics provided clarity, the company has in fact reshared Housemarque’s post making it clear that it is involved in this mysterious announcement. And if Dark Horse is involved, the announcement could concern not a new video game but a Returnal artbook or perhaps a comic series.
It seems strange that Housemarque could announce Returnal 2 without the marketing support of a Sony event like State of Play or PlayStation Showcase, therefore the sequel hypothesis seems to be discarded for the moment. Of course, nothing prevents the presentation of a new game on PlayStation Blog but at this point the clues would seem to point towards the printed paper.
However, three years after launch, would a Returnal artbook really make sense? Today we will know more, even if the studio has not communicated any time for this highly anticipated announcement.
