SEAT is a Spanish brand that belongs to a huge group, and now we are going to talk to you about its engines in detail.

The world of four wheels is made up of a large number of brands, and as far as Europe is concerned, almost all states have at least one manufacturer. SEAT was the first Spanish brand in history and was founded on 9 May 1950in the midst of the Second World War, and a few months later, the first car, known as the 1400, came into the world. Consider that it was a car that was almost identical to the FIAT 1400, and had an engine located at the front, positioned longitudinally, and was equipped with rear-wheel drive.

Being a vehicle from over seventy years ago, it was certainly not a monster in terms of technologies and equipment, but it was still quite suitable and achieved good results on the sales front. Furthermore, performance was also good, considering that it reached a top speed of 120 km/h, and at the time it was a rarity to find small cars or similar that exceeded 100 km/h. The power was 44 horsepower, and it was the twin, on the mechanical front, of the FIAT model mentioned above, so it was normal to find strong similarities.

Little by little, SEAT achieved truly enormous success and began exporting several of its models outside Spainlike the 600, and as you may have noticed, there was a sort of partnership with FIAT, with almost completely identical cars between the two brands in terms of engines and technologies adopted.

Subsequently, things changed starting in the 1980s, when the Spanish brand severed all ties with the Turin company, having been purchased by the group Volkswagen, of which it became part, and of which it is still a member today. Now we will try to understand who builds the engines of this famous brand.

SEAT, here’s who makes their engines

There SEATbeing part of the group Volkswagenbenefited from the technological know-how of the Wolfsburg giant, and its engines are produced in Mlada Boleslavin the Czech Republic. Basically, the most frequently used engines are the 1.0 TSI and 1.0 MPI, and as far as those responsible for production are concerned, the following can be stated.

The engines are officially produced by SEAT, but under the strong influence of Volkswagen, and they also have a lot in common with the cars of the German company. Nowadays, however, there are strong doubts about what the future of the Spanish brand will be, since it was said that it would soon be completely absorbed by the Cuprabut things don’t seem to be settled yet.

A few weeks ago what could be a sort of relaunch of SEAT was announced, based on the debut of a new low-cost electric car expected in the next few years.

At the moment, we know almost nothing about this model, which at least should guarantee the continuation of the brand’s activity. Objectively, we can only be happy about it, since it is a historic manufacturer that has achieved excellent results in its past.
