The Google Pixel 8a should be announced next month during Google I/O, however, thanks to the many leaks we now already know a lot about Google’s new mid-range. In the last few hours, everything has emerged, from images accompanied by specifications, to a video showing the most interesting AI functions in action. But let’s proceed in order!
Thanks to Androidheadlines we can show you the new renderings of the Pixel 8a in all four colors (Obsidian Black, Porcelain White, Mint Green and Lagoon Blue)together with the cases and some promotional images that reveal the main features that will be introduced on this smartphone.
Let’s start with the main images, and as you can see in the gallery below they will be there Matching silicone cases for all four colorways.
We then discover, thanks to the official slides, that with Pixel 8a Google is focusing everything on the “AI-incredible” camera. In fact, we will find features such as Magic Eraser for Audio, Night View and Best Shot. None of these are completely new for the Pixel 8a, as Night View and Best Shot have been around for a while. The Magic Eraser for audio, however, was introduced with the Pixel 8 series last autumn.
Google also highlights the presence of a good number of functions useful for daily life. It will be possible to filter calls with Google Assistant, obtain an immediate summary of emails and use “Find with Image” directly on Pixel 8a. Here are the images to follow, accompanied by rich captions.
As expected, the slides reveal that the Pixel 8a will be equipped with the Google Tensor G3 processor, the same one we saw on the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro launched last fall. Google also mentions the fast charging, also writing that it will reach 30 watts maximums.
Then we find the promotion of a feature that Google actually discontinued in June: Google One VPN. Pixel 8a boasts IP67 certification for dust and water resistance, and will receive seven years of security updates. In this case, Google specifies security updates, and not simply updates, as for the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. It may therefore be a slightly different update policy compared to the top-of-the-line models.

Pixel 8a it will probably go on sale in the days following the Google I/O keynote, theoretically from May 16th. As for the price, we expect the Pixel 8a to remain around 500 euros, as evidenced by the leak from a Canadian retailer a few days ago.
Specifically, the 128GB version will cost 709 Canadian dollars (484 euros), the 256GB version 793 Canadian dollars (542 euros). However, it must be remembered that local taxes must be added to these, so the final price will be even higher.
