According to Dusk Golem, Resident Evil 9 will not release in 2025 as originally planned by Capcom, the game would in fact have been postponed internally and plans would have changed. Initially there was talk of a presentation this year and a launch in 2025 but apparently things won’t go that way.
The insider still doesn’t know why RE9 suffered an internal referral however, he underlines that this is not the first time this has happened and it is not unusual for the development roadmap of a game like Resident Evil to undergo substantial changes, with even major revisions to the roadmap.
Dusk Golem then underlines how he is not sure of the total veracity of these rumors, instead of Resident Evil 9 Apocalypse (provisional title) Capcom may release another smaller Resident Evil game waiting for the main course. To date, there are at least 5 Resident Evil games in development between remakes and new projects.
Resident Evil 9 it should conclude the trilogy started with Resident Evil 7 Biohazard and continued (successfully) with Resident Evil Village. Furthermore, RE9 should be one of the games of the “new course” by Capcom along with Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Monster Hunter Wilds (out in 2025).
