The Polytechnic of Turin at the 2024 Book Fair. AI as a means to imagine possible futures

The institutional stand will be available to future students for any information on the University’s courses and activities, also hosting an interactive laboratory which, through AI, will challenge the public to plan the future in the name of green and digital transitions

“Every era has its revolutions”says one of the claims of the new registration campaign Polytechnic of Turin. One of the revolutions of our era is the one led byartificial intelligencewhich at the stand set up by the University for the2024 edition of Turin International Book Fair (located at the Pavilion 3 – Stand S51 of Lingotto Fiere) wants to be a means to imagine possible futures.

In continuity with the theme of the Show (9-13 May 2024), “Imaginary life”at the Polytechnic stand the public will be guided in an activity that addresses two themes: the sphere of projectwhich transversally unites all the University’s degree courses, and the think about the future in a world struggling with transitions green And digitalwhich represents one of the vocations of the Polytechnic.

Through a set of tiles developed by Maria Luce Lupetti And Andrea Di Salvoresearchers from Department of Architecture and Design of the Polytechnic, the activity will involve visitors in the composition of a prompt: A personalized and unique request based on a specific syntax. Each prompt will allow us to generate, through AI, visions of future objects starting from a series of archetypes linked to the themes of the courses of the University: from vehicles to architectural works, passing through robots, satellites, packaging and even entire cities. Furthermore, in line with the responsible approach to innovation of the Polytechnic of Turin, the activity will guide the imagination through values and visions of the future between technology and innovation, promoting sustainability and inclusiveness.

Whether visitors shape a building inspired by nature or a new sustainable means of transport, what they will be able to design at the Polytechnic of Turin will far exceed their imagination (and that of artificial intelligence).

In addition to this interactive laboratory, like every year the Polytechnic of Turin stand will have an institutional character and will dedicate ample space to information and orientation activities, to respond to the requests of future students on the training offer and the services made available from the University.

Furthermore, professors, male and female researchers from the Polytechnic participate in the Show as guests. For further information, consult the University website at this link
