Rome, 8 May 2024 – Still risks due to the malfunction of a Boeing airplane, still managed to touch the track with one spectacular emergency landing. The accident, which caused no casualties, occurred around 8 this morning at Istanbul airport and involved a cargo ship of the FedEx shipping company.
The trolley doesn’t come down
The FedEx plane had left from Charles De Gaulle airport in Paris, the Istanbul airport authorities say. The pilots of the Boeing 763 arrived near the Turkish airport they informed the control tower who were unable to extract the front landing gear. An emergency landing was then carried out in coordination with the airport control tower, the Turkish Ministry of Transport announced in a statement, quoted by Hurriyet.

The sparks on the track
The TRT, Turkish state television, broadcast the images of the complex and dangerous landing without landing gear front. In the video you can see the plane land with its rear wheels and then settle on the front part of the fuselage which produced contact with the runway sparks and smoke. Fortunately, after a few meters the Boeing stopped, when the firefighters were already intervening with foam to prevent it from catching fire.
A fault in the hydraulic system
The Turkish ministry also announced that according to the pilots the landing gear failure was caused by a plumbing problem. Turkish aviation experts have been tasked with investigating the crash. The Minister of Transport, Abdulkadir Uralogluhe assured: “The plane landed without causing any problems, we have three other runways, so there was no significant problem.”
