Descriptive text here

The Spanish magazine Vandal reported some new details on Nintendo Switch 2or what will be the name of the next Nintendo console, focusing in particular on dimensions, release period and characteristics of the magnetic Joy-Cons used by the device.

The information comes from third-party accessory manufacturers who, apparently, have recently had close contact with the new console, and some contacts have revealed the characteristics that emerged in this meeting to the magazine in question, which can be considered a rather reliable source.

The method of meeting with Nintendo Switch 2 seems to have been somewhat atypical: based on what has been reported, it seems that the invited producers were able to “touch” the console but without being able to see it to avoid leaks, which is rather strange.

Bigger but not too much, with magnetic Joy-Cons

The new Joy-Cons will use a magnetic attachment system, it seems

Based on what has emerged, Nintendo Switch 2 seems to be bigger of the first Nintendo Switch, placing itself as a middle ground between the latter and Steam Deck but still remaining significantly smaller than Valve’s machine.

Virtually all the sources consulted agree that the launch is scheduled forbeginning of 2025without yet a more defined period, but 2024 seems to be excluded from the console’s release schedules.

A novelty seems to be represented by the Joy-Con attachment system: the controllers of the new console, which could have similarities with the current ones, seem to be connected with a magnetic system and not with the interlocking tracks seen in the Current Nintendo Switch. The new Joy-Cons they will not be compatible with the previous console, reportedly, but some current accessories, such as the Pro Controller, will work on Nintendo Switch 2.

In recent days, among the rumors that have emerged about the new Nintendo console, it has emerged that it will be weaker than Steam Deck but more powerful than PS4, per Digital Foundry and that it could use Samsung’s fifth generation V-NAND as memory.
