Maioraassociated Despar of Corato (Bari) operating in Puglia, Abruzzo, Calabria, Campania, Basilicata and Molise, with over 450 retail points of sale (direct and indirect), plus 8 wholesale, has been awarded 13 commercial establishments by Regina Groupassociate Crai.
The operation was notified toAgcmas stated in one of yesterday’s weekly market notices, Wednesday 24 April.
“The operation – specifies the Antitrust – consists in the acquisition of exclusive control over 13 business branches (6 supermarkets and 7 cash & carry), initially through business branch rental agreements and subsequently through the acquisition of a new company, into which Regina transfers the properties. Two sectors are involved: that of the distribution of large-scale consumer goods, food and non-food, to final consumers and that of the distribution of the same goods to VAT holders, such as hotels, restaurants, bars, artisans, small traders, i.e. to operators who in turn they resell as is, or transform the goods purchased wholesale”.
In the super/hyper and neighborhood channel Maiora is active with brands Despar, Eurospar and Interspar, and in cash & carry, that means Altaspherea brand that recently reached 100 million euros in revenues (read another article by Modern Distribution).
Maiora Group, of families Cannillo And Peschecherais one of the great players in the Central-Southern large-scale retail trade, with a turnover of one billion euros.
Regina, for its part, was born in the Seventies and operates in the Calabrian and Lucanian areas under the Crai brand, developing around 100 sales points with the brands Crai, Heart of Crai And Crai Extra.
The company from Zumpano (Cosenza) came second in 2022 Companyreports.ita turnover, as far as Regina Servizi Srlof 542.3 million euros and a profit slightly higher than 4 million.
The most obvious result is the almost doubling of Altasfera, which would thus go from 8 to 15 large surfaces.
