Today we will tell you about a curiosity regarding a hydrogen car, and the expense that must be made to travel 100 km on this vehicle.

The world of four wheels, nowadays, is constantly looking for sustainable mobility, which can do less harm to the planet, and electric cars have been seen by the leaders, both political and of the various brands, such as the perfect element for cutting emissions. However, their sales proceed slowly and purchase prices continue to not fallwhich has led several manufacturers to also evaluate alternatives that could be valid, but at the moment, there are none.

Indeed, there is a lot of talk about hydrogen cars, but according to some studies, they cannot be considered a viable option, since prices would be even higher than electric ones, and furthermore, there is a significant delay on the infrastructure front. Nowadays, therefore, it is impossible to think of hydrogen as a solution, and now we will give you a very interesting fact about this technology.

Cars, here’s how much 100 km costs with hydrogen

There are therefore only two hydrogen cars, and for our analysis, we decided to opt for the one Toyota Mirai, which has a price of 66,000 euros. According to an article published in the columns of “AlVolante.it“, this car managed to travel 1,003 km on a single tank of hydrogendata that has nothing to envy of the best diesel engines around in terms of efficiency.

Officially, based on the data released by Toyota itself, this car should not have gone beyond 600 km of autonomy, but a test carried out by Energy Observer and by a team of experts took it well beyond its limits, obviously at a slow pace. As reported, the average consumption was 0.55 kg per 100 km, with a full tank equivalent to 5.6 kg of hydrogenwhich is absolutely a significant fact.

Nowadays, based on what we discovered on the web, we have managed to trace the value of one kg of hydrogen, which is equal to approximately 13.7 euros in Bolzano. So, a hydrogen car travels 100 km spending around 7.5 euros, based on current data. Why did we mention Bolzano? Simple, it is the only Italian city where it is possible, nowadays, to refuel a hydrogen-powered car, so there is still a long way to go.
