Noin the KTM range, alongside the more powerful 890, for a year the 790 Adventure is back. It costs 11,980 euros (over 3,000 less than its big sister)is a little less powerful and sophisticated, ed It is made in China by CF Moto.

We’ll tell you how it goes in every condition of use, from city to off-road. But most of all, Is it made like the Austrian ones?

How is it going

95 horsepower, complete electronic equipment, 199 kg without petrol: isn’t it that in the end it puts its big sister 890 (which costs 15,480 euros) in its sights? The doubt came to me at the end of the test, because the 790 Adventure performed very well.

In terms of finishes we are there, it is well built and the only flaw concerns some welding of the silencer. The rest of the bike is free from criticism. And the guide wins you over.

The bike is agile even in the city, touch well with your feet on the ground. You have little vibration and good protection from the air up to 160 km/h. Unfortunately the windshield is not adjustablebut that standard is a nice compromise.

In the city in summer the engine heats up and there is discomfort in the foot areaI recommend motorcycle shoes, which protect well from the heat (and protect our feet!).

The passenger has a nice portion of the seat and consumption is excellent, equal to 4.3 km/l in average use. The maximum speed is 209 km/h, while 0-100 is covered in 4.1 seconds. The weight with petrol is 225 kg.

The engine has better output than the first 790, because it has a heavier crankshaft, which softened the response at low revs. The gearbox is great, but the quick-shifter is optional like the Rally map and cruise control (for a nice additional outlay of around 1,000 euros).

On the road, the 790 Adventure is agile, brakes well and behaves like a motorcycle through the bends. The engine always pushes hard, it never makes you regret the 105 horsepower of the 890.

The suspensions work well. The WP Apex fork only sinks too much when braking recklessly, but overall I wouldn’t touch the adjustments. Off-road the 790 Adventure doesn’t surprise you, in the sense that the 790 made in Austria did well and its heir made in China also did well.

The low center of gravity helps and the engine always has a good power output. The real limit comes from the Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR, excellent on asphalt, but in crisis when there is mud.

In the end which one to choose? Well, considering the significant price difference, the right choice could just be this 790 Adventure.

And you, what do you think?
