What changes between OPPO and Realme? The definitive explanation on the two brands

We have already explained to you what the main differences are between Xiaomi and Redmi, but all the big Chinese phone brands have at least one or two sub-brands for different segments of the market. OPPO is certainly no exception: connected to the company is in fact the Realme brand, which produces devices for the entry-level sector of the smartphone world.

Realme was born as a sub-brand of OPPO in 2018: the idea behind the brand is to reuse OPPO hardware and technologies on lower-priced devices, perfect for conquering the mid- and low-end market. On this basis – and along the lines of the success of similar operations, such as the birth of Honor from the “offshoot” of Huawei or that of Redmi and POCO from Xiaomi – Realme has quickly become a success in China.

Realme arrived in Italy in 2019, just one year after the release of its first devices in China. Even on the European market, the company has tried to establish itself in the broad market landscape entry-level (focusing above all on the range below 200 Euros and on the range between 200 and 400 Euros), focusing on quality-price ratio of the products and on their design, often modeled on that of the more expensive OPPO solutions.

More recently, Realme has tried to look at the high end of the market, especially in terms of design: for example, the very recent Realme 12 Pro was co-designed by Rolex and recalls, in terms of form factor, the watches of the very famous Swiss company. Nonetheless, even forays into the world of flagship have been accompanied by the maintenance of rather low prices: at the moment, in fact, there are very few Realme devices above 500 Euros.
