WhatsApp changes the cards on the table | Users will be forced to pay

WhatsApp announced some major changes that users of the Meta messaging application did not like.

Most of the updates that are released on social platforms and, in general, on the online services most used by users try to respond to the most pressing needs and requests that users request through feedback. Sometimes, however, this feedback is not always listened to and it can happen releasing updates or announcing news that makes many people turn up their noses.

WhatsApp is the most used messaging service in our country and in the world and for this reason most of the updates released in recent years have generated a lot of discussions on the web, both positive and negative. The latest news has been received quite positively by users, but in recent days some heavy criticism has been generated against Meta for a decision that people didn’t like.

The decision in question which has unleashed a real media storm was taken in the last few days and will not make people particularly happy, especially those people who use the messaging service very frequently and therefore have numerous chats on the app; despite the criticism, however, Meta is unlikely to retrace his steps.

WhatsApp, here’s what’s changing: users will be forced to pay

The latest updates released by WhatsApp, as previously mentioned, have been particularly appreciated by users: such as the possibility of editing messages after sending them in chat, a long-awaited function, or the new section dedicated to channels which is becoming more and more active to the detriment of the States which are instead losing more and more importance even if Meta already has a solution ready.

The situation on WhatsApp, especially with regards to updates, can be considered quite positive in recent years, but apparently a sudden slowdown is coming: in the last few days some news has come out that has not pleased users also because so many people, by virtue of this sudden change, they will be forced to pay.

All these changes concern a function that has already been present on WhatsApp for some time and that many people use, but which could soon push several users to pay a sum of money to continue using the app with peace of mind: a novelty that is clearly infuriating everyone given that Meta’s messaging service has always been free in every aspect.

WhatsApp changes the game when it comes to chat backup

The function in question that is about to undergo sudden changes is the backup function of chats: a process that can be activated manually or, as often happens, automatically every month or every week to save all the contents of WhatsApp chats in a cloud storage such as Google Drive or iCloud to avoid losing them forever in case of smartphone failure, app deletion or account migration.

Backup has always been a free feature of WhatsApp, but it could soon become a paid feature at least in a certain sense: before this update, in fact, the backup of the Android version of the messaging service did not take a toll on the Google Drive memory while , according to what has been reported in the last few hours on the web, it seems that Google has decided to change course also counting the WhatsApp backup memory within the cloud space.

Each user with their Google account has 10 GB of memory available which, however, backup after backup, could run out quickly: this is why, if you want to continue using WhatsApp with peace of mind, you will have to pay a subscription to expand the cloud memory space : €1.99 per month for an additional 100 GB of memory up to €299.99 per month for an additional 30 Terabytes.
