Sometimes even the eye wants its part, and one console which is aesthetically beautiful to look at can be a reason to display it proudly and in plain sight in your home location. But over time there has been no shortage of platforms that are not exactly spectacular to look at, on the contrary.
Some systems were not exactly the best to look at: think of theXbox One and its shape is more similar to a large video recorder, or to the American version of the SuperNintendo which felt more like a flimsy toy than a gaming platform. Even the design of PlayStation 5 it has created rifts among fans, between those who appreciate its particular style and those who consider it out of place.
But what if we were to find the ugliest console ever seenaesthetically speaking, perhaps there is a name that stands out above all: the VirtualBoy Of Nintendowhich became reality in 1995. Classified as a portable console, the Virtual Boy seemed as far away from this concept as possible: it had a rather chilling shape and needed to be mounted on a stand to remain stable and allow you to play. 
The overall shape seemed more a monstrous and deformed creature than a video game platform, which did everything except entice you to play it.
After all, in addition to being aesthetically ugly, it also made it look good excruciating to use: it was necessary to insert the eyes inside the device to play, assuming uncomfortable and forced positions that made it difficult to maintain concentration in the long term. It is one of the most unfortunate consoles ever on a commercial level, but considering its design, its inconvenience and the very few games published, it is not surprising that it was Nintendo’s biggest hardware failure.
Recently the Virtual Boy returned to the limelight with a Virtual Boy Pro themed April Fool’s joke. Luckily, it was just a joke.
