As good old Giovanni Storti would say, “that is, the situation is being reversed”, and now it is PocketPair to accuse Tencent of plagiarism for having copied Palworldor something like that, as reported by the Japanese team on social media through the words of CEO, Takuro Mizobe.
The situation is rather curious because, until now, it was PocketPair itself that was accused of plagiarism for Palworld, evidently inspired by Pokémon so much so as to give rise to the idea that there could be a real copying of assets from Game Freak games, which apparently has not yet been proven despite the investigations announced by The Pokémon Company.
To tell the truth, PocketPair doesn’t have much to fall back on, considering that the elusive Tencent game that is supposedly copying Palworld hasn’t been released yet nor has it been shown, but in fact its existence has been officially confirmed.
More of an expression of pride
“Tencent is already developing a Palworld clone,” Mizobe reported on X, “In China, several companies are simultaneously developing various clones for mobile platforms of Palworld”, is the communication made by the CEO of the team.
However, the statement seems above all to be a sign of pride on the part of the PocketPair boss, rather than a real indictment, given that Mizobe points out how these projects have a huge budgetor about 10 times that used for Palworld, and that there will probably be several titles of this type around in the near future.
More than an accusation, it therefore seems to want to self-promote what its team has done, capable of establishing a sort of new trend that could establish itself in the next period. In fact, it has previously emerged that Tencent is already working on Palworld clones, and with that other teams as well.
