Beware of SMS scams

These days it is important to pay particular attention Attention if you receive gods messages That they seem to come from INPS.

The communications do not come from the Institute: in fact it is one SMS scamwhich aims to steal personal data of users.

The phishing it is a very frequent phenomenon: those who carry out scams often exploit the reliability of institutional bodies, imitating the communication style, to carry out fraudulent operations.

Let’s see together how to proceed to avoid this fall in these attempts.

SMS messages from INPS? This is a scam

Anyone who has received or will soon receive a SMS which comes, at least apparently, from INPShe has to pay a lot Attention.

The message actually comes from false senders who pretend to be the Institute, imitating its communications in appearance and content, to convince victims to provide their personal data.

Through https://twitter.com/INPS_it/status/1779509923040100605INPS has warned users against yet another scam attemptmore specifically than smishing .

It is a particular type of phishingtherefore of computer fraudwhich uses mobile phones as an attack platform.

The name of the scam derives from the means used, i.e. i text messages or SMShence the term “SMiShing”.

In this specific case, the message contains a link to domain “infoinpsdifferent from the only official address of the INPS portal.

The link leads to a untrue pagein which the recipient is asked to compile a module with your own personal data.

In the post, INPS also provided a screenshot of the displayed interface:

There are many cases of this type: only a few days ago, in fact, the Institute had warned of another fraudulent communication via SMS, relating to the disbursement of an amount.

As communicated by INPS in response to one of the comments on https://twitter.com/INPS_it/status/1778760425842094121:

“Many users choose SMS as a contact channel. However, it is possible to distinguish INPS SMS from others, because they do not contain links to communicate data”.

To protect themselves from any scam attempts, users must:

  • avoid clicking on links with a domain other than “inps.it”, even if they lead to pages with INPS colors and logos;
  • check for any spelling errors or the presence of unofficial logos;
  • do not provide your own personal data. The Institute already has the necessary information.

Never trust, therefore, communications which, pretending to be the Institute, lead to unofficial addresses and require you to provide your own data.
