According to the sources of Jeff Grubb, well-known VentureBeat journalist and gaming insider, during 2024 Sony could publish some PS5 exclusives belonging to minor franchisesincluding perhaps also a game starring Astro Bot.

The tip-off arrived during the last episode of the Giant Bomb podcast, the same one in which Grubb always suggested a new PlayStation Showcase or a State of Play for the month of May.

“I also keep hearing that there will be some smaller first-party games, like that Astro game that’s supposed to be coming up this year,” Grubb said.

No first-party for now, but there will be no shortage of PS5 exclusives in 2024

As you probably already know, in February Sony revealed that it will not publish any PS5 exclusives belonging to major franchises until the end of March 2025.

This, however, does not exclude a priori that PlayStation Studios is working on some “minor” exclusive, as suggested by Grubb. Furthermore, Sony in 2024 is compensating for the absence of internal productions with titles made by second and third parties.

For example, in the first quarter we saw Helldivers 2, Rise of the Ronin and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (the latter in a timed exclusive), while Stellar Blade will arrive in April. Looking further ahead, Concord, the remake of Until Dawn and Silent Hill 2 are also planned.
