The Argentine striker’s statements during the Copa America: Toro reveals some background on the injury

At the end of the match against Peru, won by the Albiceleste 2-0, Toro spoke to the microphones of Marca.
“My streak is the result of the great work we all do. Sometimes he doesn’t want to go in, but when he wants to go in this happens. And it’s beautiful. But when I didn’t score I was still calm because I always give 100% for this shirt and my best in every training session.”
Lautaro recalled the problems and suffering caused by the injury:
“I was about to have surgery, I suffered a lot with my ankle. I had infiltrations to play and was in a lot of pain. I gritted my teeth and got to the end. At Inter I was playing with anti-inflammatories and my ankle hurt a lot.”
“We played a difficult group, with tough opponents, but we managed to bring home full points and we are happy with this. Even the 1-0 was difficult for us. The opponents play with a five-man line, which is unusual for them. We have to show character when the match gets complicated, as happened against Peru.”
