The Belarusian, champion of the last Australian Open and two-time semifinalist at the All England Club, is replaced in the draw by the Russian Erika Andreeva, Mirra’s older sister.
“It breaks my heart to announce that I won’t be able to compete at Wimbledon this year. I tried everything to be ready, but my shoulder didn’t cooperate. I pushed myself to the limit today in training, but my staff helped me having said that playing like this will only make the situation worse. This tournament means a lot to me so I promise I will come back stronger next year.”
