Aryna Sabalenkathe third seed in the main draw, is withdrawing from the Wimbledon tournament due to the shoulder injury he sustained in a recent tournament in Berlin. “I don’t feel one hundred percent” the third tennis player in the world made it known during the media day of the London Slam. “My body is struggling and I need to take better care of myself”the words of the semi-finalist of the last edition who was due to take to the court on Court 1 at 4pm on Monday 1st July against the American Emina Bektas.
The Belarusian, champion of the last Australian Open and two-time semifinalist at the All England Club, is replaced in the draw by the Russian Erika Andreeva, Mirra’s older sister.
“It breaks my heart to announce that I won’t be able to compete at Wimbledon this year. I tried everything to be ready, but my shoulder didn’t cooperate. I pushed myself to the limit today in training, but my staff helped me having said that playing like this will only make the situation worse. This tournament means a lot to me so I promise I will come back stronger next year.”
