On the same day that the Wimbledon 2024 draw was made, the defending champion Carlos Alcaraz he explained his objectives for the third Slam of the year which takes place on Monday 1 July at Wimbledon.
As per tradition, Carlos Alcaraz, the defending champion, will play his first match on the Centre Court on the first day. After his early defeat at Queen’sa tournament in which he was beaten in the round of 16 by DraperAlcaraz is aiming for a repeat after last year’s success in the final against Novak Djokovic.
The 2024 Roland Garros champion certainly can’t complain about the draw as he has avoided several loose cannons not among the top seeds and his path at least on paper seems to be decidedly easier than that of his two main rivals, namely Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic.
Carlos Alcaraz: “I feel good and I’m here to repeat the same result as last year”
Alcaraz after winning Roland Garros he explained to the media that the problem withforearm which strongly influenced him in the first part of the clay season seems to have definitely been overcome.
Speaking at an event hosted by Babolat which also included Holger Rune e Cameron Norrie among others he specifically said that he was in London with the aim of reconfirming the title won in 2023. “I feel as if I no longer have injuriesthat I can strike freely100% without thinking.
We did a great job. The clay season was difficult, but I no longer felt any pain.” And to a specific question about what his goal is for this Wimbledon: “I’m here to achieve the same result as last year”, were the words of the Iberian. Or win the title again.
