The Flaminio stadium can become “the home of SS Lazio”. It was put down in black and white by the president of the Biancoceleste sports club who, with an act forwarded to the attention of Mayor Gualtieri, formally “expressed interest” in the sports facility.

The letter sent by Lotito

“I have carried out a series of checks and investigations for the development of a feasibility plan to create the home of SS Lazio at the Flaminio stadium in Rome” we read in the document signed by Claudio Lotito. “Obviously we are interested in the development of a restructuring plan which, in full compliance with current regulations, allows the Flaminio stadium to be a stadium capable of hosting football matches of national and international tournaments”.

A welcome comparison

The desire to open a discussion with the city administration, therefore, is there. In recent days, sports councilor Alessandro Onorato, on Radio Roma Sound fm90, declared that “if Lazio wants to present a project it must come to the Capitol and present it to the Mayor and all the councilors involved, not just myself”. Once this step has been taken, “if they wanted to make an investment in that area, a services conference could be opened”. At the moment, the one linked to the proposal of which Roma Nuoto was the leader is underway. But multiple service conferences can be started at the same time.

Waiting for the dates

Lotito, in the letter sent to Gualtieri and also for information to the councilors for sport and urban planning, asked “to organize a meeting in which I will participate with the project manager designated by us and with the staff of technicians in charge of its implementation”. A meeting that should serve to “best realize” the so-called “home of the SS Lazio”, “in total compatibility with public needs” specified the Biancoceleste patron.

The fate of Flaminio

The letter, signed on June 26, reached the Capitol. The onus is now on the Capitoline administration to indicate possible dates, these are Lotito’s request, in which to organize the meeting. An appointment that could be decisive in establishing the future of the system designed by the Nervis. A fate that will also depend on the outcome of the services conference linked to the Roma Nuoto proposal. Councilor Onorato had hinted that it would approximately arrive at the end of June. A matter of days, then everything will be clearer.

The Capitol’s response

The response from the municipality did not take long to arrive. “We are obviously ready to meet SS Lazio and to delve into any proposal that they wish to submit to us – commented the urban planning councilor Maurizio Veloccia – The fact that the Flaminio Stadium and, more generally, the entire quadrant will finally return to center of attention with various regeneration proposals finds in the Administration not only an attentive interlocutor but also a fully active entity to promote the recovery of this historic and important sports facility in the city”.
