“The final will be Spain-France, if we reach the quarter-finals it’s already a miracle. I don’t think Conte is very happy”

Luciano Moggi, former manager of Juventus, Roma, Naples, Lazio and Turin, spoke to the microphones of Elleradio during the broadcast “Tutto il mio calcio e non solo”, hosted by director Ezio Luzzi.

These are his words on the current European Championships and on the situation in Italy:

“Spain is superior to everyone. After that there is France, who have not yet expressed their potential. England is a question mark, because they always do reasonably well but never win. Then there is Germany, who can be annoying, but I think the final will be Spain-France. I don’t foresee any surprises.

We have a national team that can be beaten by many. A team that if it reaches the quarterfinals will already perform a miracle. Yesterday the referee warned six Croatian players, and this is intimidating towards a football team. Italy achieved little, despite Croatia not being a major opponent. Luckily we drew. Then I would like to know how they managed to recover eight minutes…We have decent players, who at most can do well in our championship, with the exception of Barella who is superior to everyone. Jorginho always passes it back, I have yet to see him vertical…”.

Another exception, for Moggi, is the goalkeeper Donnarumma:

“We have a goalkeeper who needs to be paid attention to, because he saves penalties, and in many cases these matches are decided on penalties. At PSG he makes great saves and also some foolish things, but he must be considered an important goalkeeper.”

In closing, a comment on Napoli’s choice to hire Antonio Conte as their new coach:

“Napoli made the right move, but between the discontents of Di Lorenzo, Kvaratskhelia and Osimhen who will certainly leave, I don’t think Conte will be very happy. The club must behave knowing that they have Conte up front, not Mazzarri, and Conte not he wants interference inside the locker room.”
