Quincy Wilson had lit up the US Trials in recent daysthrilling the entire audience who was witnessing the event that determines for each discipline the three athletes who will represent the USA at the Paris 2024 Olympics. At just sixteen years old had in fact had in fact ran a superlative 44.59, improving his already under 18 world recordand hoped to become the youngest athlete in history to earn the Olympic dream with the Stars and Stripes jersey.

However, the class of 2008 was unable to complete the feat on the track lap in Eugene, concluding the final in sixth place with a time of 44.94 (in the space of forty-eight hours he still fell below the 45″ wall three times, at the age of 16…). However, the young prodigy could be taken into consideration for the 4×400. Quincy Wilson won’t be able to fly to France in a month, but an all-time talent has emerged in Oregon who has a bright future ahead of him.

Quincy Hall won the race with an excellent time of 44.17 (personal improvement of 25 cents, he had run 44.42 two days ago), i.e. the fifth world performance of the year (the list is led by 44.05 stamped by Canadian Christopher Morales-Williams). The almost 26-year-old (he will blow out the candles on July 31st), already a bronze medalist at the last World Championships, is a candidate for a leading role at the Games, where we will also see Michael Norman.

The 2022 World Champion finished in 44.41 at this facility and dreams of reliving the glories of his best days, also hoping to improve on his fifth place in Tokyo 2020. Five-circle pass also for Chris Bailey (44.42, personal equal), while Vernon Norwood (44.47) and Bryce Deadmon (44.61) remain out of the individual event, but both could aspire to a place in the relay in the transalpine capital.
