Darmian: “Italy not three-man like Inter? What Spalletti asks counts”

The Nerazzurri defender is a strong candidate for a starting shirt in the last match of Italy’s group at the European Championship

“It’s not all to be thrown away.” Matteo Darmian underlines this and is convinced of it, in the aftermath of the painful defeat against Spain. Italy is more than within reach of second place in the group at the European Championship: even a draw against Croatia will be enough. The Inter defender spoke about it in a press conference from the Italian training camp:

“We are fine, we will prepare to face the match with the right desire and determination. We want to bring home an important result. We will try to play our match, putting our qualities on the pitch. Croatia is very strong, has great experience. Brozovic not in form like at Inter? It’s not just Brozovic, but many quality players. We can put them in difficulty. We have to be balanced and transform anger into positive energy.”

You are among the most experienced in the group. What was the atmosphere like in the locker room yesterday?

“After a defeat there is always a bit of disappointment and regret. We wanted to do better, but we were up against a very strong team, which put us in difficulty. You can learn a lot from defeats, so we will have to do it so as not to repeat the same ones errors”.

Could it be penalizing to have a block like Inter’s, used to playing with a certain module, and have them play differently?
