Silvia Cuore, Weekend Fun Solidarity

A Sports Tribute: Silvia in the Heart, a Weekend of Fun and Solidarity

The weekend long awaited by sand volleyball fans is upon us. The starting whistle of the fourth edition of the tournament “Silvia in the Heart” is about to resonate in San Feliciano, at the Zocco Beach factory. This event, which will take place over the weekend of June 22nd and 23rd, offers a variety of activities in addition to the classic 3×3 mixed sand volleyball tournament, which will involve around one hundred and twenty athletes.

The weekend program includes a walk in nature, a non-competitive ride and a moment of play dedicated to the little ones. These collateral events aim to celebrate the sporting passion of Silvia Garzi, a great athlete who passed away prematurely in February 2021 due to an incurable disease. Friends and family have worked hard to keep Silvia’s memory alive through this event, which also aims to raise funds for charity.

The event aroused great interest, with an even greater number of participants than in previous editions. It is expected that around two hundred and fifty athletes will participate in the event, together with friends and family, for a total attendance that could set a new record on the shores of Lake Trasimeno.

Registrations for the sand volleyball tournament have been completed some time ago, but many registrations have also arrived for hiking and cycling excursions. Anyone who wishes can join at the last minute independently. The enthusiasm that accompanied the organizing committee spread widely and the response from commercial partners was incredibly positive.

The event was organized with the collaboration of Club Freedance, Csi Perugia, Duelle Bike Trasimeno, Lake Bike, Pianeta Volley, Trasimeno Outdoor and Zocco Beach. The objective is to support the non-profit organization Aucc (Umbrian Association for the fight against cancer) and its project ‘Adopt a Researcher’, as well as the Vivo a colori association.

The matches will start early in the morning on Saturday and continue until sunset. After the dance performance, there will be a magnificent aperitif curated by the Trasimeno Fishermen’s Inn, accompanied by the music of the group The SunRise. Sunday will be full of activities, with walking, cycling, green volleyball for children and SUP practice. For all these activities gadgets are provided for all participants.

Special thanks go to the sponsors who made this event possible. The organizing committee, made up of Alberto Aglietti, Enrica Ferranti, Alessandro Fioroni, Barbara Gullà, Tiziana Lucaccioni and Barbara Tenerini, hopes that all fans of the discipline can participate in the event for a weekend of fun and solidarity.
