From Nerviano to North Cape by bike to fulfill a long-held dream. Fiorenzo Magro and Franco Franchi, standard bearers of US Nervianese 1919 – Ciclismo, left on Thursday 20 June for the northern tip of the island of Magerøya for the first of 18 stages that will see them cover more than 4 thousand kilometres in the saddle – complete with an identification plate specially designed on the bikes – for a total of 34,095 meters of altitude difference, up to the ritual photo on the famous memorial stone with the club’s shirt.

«Our idea was born from the classic dream to be realized upon retirement – explain Fiorenzo and Franco -: since the moment has come for both of us, here we are now to make it happen. There was a long preparatory work, especially to create the tracks and identify the possible stopping points for overnight stay. We have designed a total of 18 stages to be completed in 15 days: for the two days involving the Germany – Denmark and Denmark – Sweden ferry we have planned two half-stages of approximately 100 kilometres; the other stages are all around 250-270 kilometreswith also two stages of 300″.

«The road, as always, will dominate – continue Fiorenzo and Franco -: it is not a given that we will be able to respect the program every day which would include the arrival in Nordkapp on July 5th, we’ll see. Yesterday despite the adverse weather, the water and the cold on the Maloja pass we managed to get to Susch, in the canton of Grisons, as expected. This evening we should arrive in Munich, but unfortunately the forecast is still very bad: we’ll see.”
