The Italian national rugby team, driven by the passion of the city of L’Aquila, is preparing to face the 2024 summer tour. The Azzurri, fresh from a very positive 2024 Six Nations, will face a triptych of test matches with Samoa, Tonga in July and Japan.

Marco Zanon, guest of the new episode of OnRugby Podcast, spoke from the gathering in Abruzzo. The Benetton Rugby and national team center spoke about some facets of his career, but not before reviewing the positive season he played in the green and white jersey.

His last call-up dates back to March 2023, when Kieran Crowley included him in the squad for the Six Nations match with Scotland. Zanon has now returned to the orbit of the new group chosen by Gonzalo Quesada for commitments in the Southern Hemisphere and has a great desire to offer a contribution to the Italian cause.

“I can’t wait to play. My goal is to contribute to the team. The results are starting to be seen, but there is still a lot to do. One thing is for sure: work pays. What we told ourselves within the group is that the summer tour represents a very important and demanding part of our journey. The opponent I would like to face? Definitely my Benetton teammate Malakai Fekitoa.”
