Coaches who believe in the project and the youth sector: here are the secrets of Volleyball Faenza

Volleyball Faenza’s season was worthy of applause and not just on the field. The victory of the D series with a group of girls who grew up in the nursery and the C series which always lived a year as protagonists with the play offs faded at the last minute, are only the tip of the iceberg of a sporting year which confirmed the club Faenza as one of the points of reference for Romagna volleyball, good at carrying out a project based on young people with qualified coaches.

“In two years we managed to bring to C a team made up entirely of girls who grew up in our youth sector – says Vice President Daniele Ferrari – achieving the objective we set ourselves when we chose, in 2022, to give up B2, but there is one aspect that makes me even more proud. With the reform of sports law, which gave athletes the opportunity to free themselves every season, we decided to set up a work based on quality and it is wonderful to see how coaches proactively participate in the growth of the club, to follow a common path, putting the club comes first. Everyone believes in the project and makes themselves available to train the team that is the best at that moment for their characteristics, having no problems changing it in the following season. Everyone puts themselves at the service of everyone for the common good and for the growth of the collective and thus a loyalty has been created which has led us to be an example, also because our coaches are very well trained and among the best around. This project has led many coaches to ask to come and work in our club and this is truly gratifying. We have become an attractive center for volleyball.”

Speaking of results, what do you think of the season?

“Very positive. The Serie D group had deserved the wild card in 2023 and in two years they managed to win the championship, despite their very young age. An incredible and deserved result, which we started to believe in during the season, because the team has always been in the top positions. I am also very happy with Serie C, which always enjoyed a championship at the top, but which unfortunately finished third, not making the play-offs. With two more points she would have even finished first. Then there are obviously the youth teams, who asserted themselves, and the enthusiasm shown by the younger CAS boys, always smiling every time they entered the gym”.

And what season was it for men?

“Giorgio Raggi and Claudio Visani have, as always, done an excellent technical job and also this season eight of our boys went to play on loan in Romagna clubs: four in B and four in C. Regarding the men’s, I would hope for provincial coordination in such a way that all companies can carry out common and synergistic work, allowing each to enhance itself”.

What’s new for next season?

“At the moment we have two C series and by regulation we will have to sell one. We will therefore play the C with a good part of the group that won the D plus some confirmed from last season and we will play the D again with a staff made up of young people from the youth team, the girls from the First Division and some of those who have won it a few months ago. The technical coordination will still be by Giorgio Raggi and Loris Polo who are achieving excellent results by helping our girls grow. At youth level, we will have an Under 16 Excellence team, returning after many years to play a championship where we will measure ourselves against the best teams in the region.”
