Where is Newey going?
In the early afternoon it was the British of The Times to break the news, followed by the Dutch De Telegraaf and by his compatriots The Independent: Adrian Newey was recently spotted in Silverstone, for a private tour of the Aston Martin factory.
According to reports, Lawrence Stroll’s pressing would be increasingly insistentso much so that there are whispers of a conversation between the parties and of a very attractive offer made by the Canadian tycoon. The team’s employees would also have been asked to maintain the strictest confidentiality about what is happening, but clearly some indiscretion has leaked out.
Aston Martin has confidence
The Times also underlines a certain confidence on the part of Lawrence Stroll to finalize the deal with Adrian Newey, although the Briton is not the first top engineer to be approached by Aston Martin in recent times, with Ferrari’s Enrico Cardile having received a rather large offer from the team.
Aston Martin did not want to confirm or deny the rumors: “The Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team is a very attractive project thanks to the vision of Lawrence Stroll, with a new cutting-edge technology campus and exciting partnerships with Aramco and Honda. Many high-profile people in all areas have been linked to our project, but we have nothing to announce.”
As has been reported for a few months now, Ferrari is always on Newey’s trail.
