Motorcycling, many things could change very soon. Here is the evolution of events awaiting us in the two-wheel sector.
We often talk about motoring, but the world of motorcycling is, if possible, even more passionate and full of inventiveness and talent, a continuous challenge for both customers and professionals.
Clearly the car remains the most used means of transport – in general – by citizens all over the world, in any case the two-wheel market still has a certain charm and reputation that is difficult to even imagine for many other commercial sectors . Having said that, on the motorcycling side it seems that a real turning point is ever closer.
Very soon there could be a big change for motorcycles, a sort of revolution that perhaps not everyone expects and which could truly change the world of two wheels as we know it in 2024.
Motorcycling, what a change: the details of the great revolution
On the environmental side and management of polluting emissions, motorcycles and their sector must also pay attention through the companies that make them. Unlike cars, for the moment there is no Euro 6 category, among two wheels we can find Euro 5 vehicles. From the point of view of emissions, to be honest, they are practically the same thing. As regards a future regulation of Euro 6, however, the Unine Europea would have in mind for motorcycles to pass Euro 5+ first (should become mandatory from 1 January 2025).
This decision, inevitably, will postpone the Euro 6 motorcycles by at least a few years. There’s no telling yet how long we’ll have to wait, but that’s how things are right now. Considering that Euro 4 became mandatory in 2017, it could take no less than four years for Euro 5+ (which, we remind you, is already available starting this year for newly homologated motorcycles).
To comply with the new approval limits, however, it will be necessary for companies to comply with more severe and rigid tests, such as a new phase of on-board diagnostics and noise, steps that the current newly approved motorcycles are already required to comply with. . This is a big change for the entire future of two wheels, therefore it should absolutely not be underestimated as a situation, also because within this innovation there is also the delicate issue of environmental sustainability and the management of polluting emissions by vehicles: very soon, for both motorbikes and cars, the time will come to change again from this point of view.
