First time for Italy to have a number 1 in the ATP ranking, but obviously it is also the first time for Jannik Sinner who is dealing with a truly important career milestone: “The number 1 in the rankings means a lot to me, I think it’s one thing to win a tournament and another to be number 1 in the world. I’m really happy to be in this position, there is a lot of work and a lot of sacrifices to be in this situation but at the same time something new begins for me. It’s something new. I can’t wait to get back on the pitch and that’s where I’m happy, where I look for solutions to problems that arise”.
The enthusiasm of the Italian fans
Italy went crazy for Jannik Sinner: for months now his matches have become events like the national team matches and he doesn’t hold back: “There was great enthusiasm in Rome and I am really happy to be back home and to have shared this moment with all Italians. I was happy to stay in Rome for a while and see what happened in Rome”.
The idol Federer and the relationship with the family
Feet planted on the ground, always. Jannik Sinner has always given the impression of not letting himself be shocked and change from the fame that has come in recent months: “I don’t think the finish line can change me, my family and friends and I are still the same. Obviously everyone is happy and I’m lucky to be able to share this moment with them, but at the same time I’m the same person I was a year and two years later. I’m always the same with them, I like to do different things like go-karting or playing cards”.
Immediately after reaching the finish line of the number 1 position, the ATP dedicated a video to him with messages of the club of “number 1s” and Jannik chooses the most significant one: “My idol has always been Roger but all the messages that the former world number 1s sent me were beautiful. I hope to be able to thank them all in person”.

After the rush of best wishes and congratulations for Jannik Sinner, the time has come to return to the field and begin the season on grass with the Halle tournament which serves as preparation for the great Wimbledon event.
