Good morning friends of OA Sport and welcome to the Live Broadcast of the 2nd round match of the ATP Eastbourne between Lorenzo Sonego and Max Purcell.
The Italian qualified for the round of 16 by defeating the British Henry Searle, who took over following the retirement of Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. Sonego asserted his superiority over the 2023 junior Wimbledon champion, giving himself an excellent chance in this tournament. Now, the Australian Max Purcell, who is good on fast surfaces, is up against him for a place in the quarterfinals.
Unpredictable and gifted with a serve that is difficult to counter, Purcell had a very bad season in singles, but as soon as he found grass again he was able to raise his level. In the last two weeks he hasn’t picked up any victories, but he has at least raised the bar in his game, after the last match he won was against the Taipei challenger, pre-Roland Garros. In this tournament, he actually won three matches, starting from the qualifiers against Choinski and Searle (yesterday’s rival of Sonego), and in the 1st round against Laslo Djere in 3 sets.
