Under 20 World Cup: the calendar, groups, match times and live streaming ph. Sebastiano Pessina
There is less and less left until the start of the World Rugby under 20 Championship, the under 20 World Cup which will start on Saturday 29 June with the first day of the group stage. As every year, 12 teams will be involved, divided into 3 groups of 4 teams. The placings in the groups will determine the scoreboard of the final phase, with a tournament between the best 4 to win the world championship, a second tournament to decide the placings from 5th to 8th and a third to decide who will be relegated to the second division, the Trophy . The main novelty is the participation of Spain, who won the Trophy last year by beating Uruguay in the final, who in turn had sensationally eliminated Scotland.

Italy is placed in group B with Ireland, Australia and Georgia: a very tough grouping also caused by last year’s poor placing, when the Azzurrini finished 11th and avoided relegation by winning the final play-off with Japan. In the other groups, France and New Zealand will compete for first place in Group A together with Wales and debutant Spain, while in Group C the hosts South Africa will challenge Argentina, England and Fiji.

Under 20 World Cup: the Tournament formula
Each team will play 3 matches, one against each opponent in the group. At the end of the first phase a ranking will be drawn up: the winners of each group and the best second in terms of points won will advance to the semi-finals for the world title. The other second-placed teams and the two best third-placed teams will instead play in the tournament which will assign places from 5th to 8th, while the worst third-placed team and the last ones in each group will face the tournament for 9th-12th place, and the last place will be relegated to the Trophy.
