Matteo Berrettini talks about himself in an interview, surprising everyone with his opinion on a personal topic
He’s on the crest of a wave Jannik Sinner, symbol of the Italian tennis movement, new number one in the world rankings from this week. However, behind the number one in the world, there are other important figures and among these, obviously, Matteo Berrettiniwho is getting back into the game with competitiveness and this is demonstrated by the results coming from the Stuttgart ATP.
Berrettini, in fact, reached the semi-final of the German grass tournament after eliminating the Australian Duckworth in two sets. Before the latter, the blue defeated Shapovalov and Safiullin. The 22-year-old also competes in the same event Lorenzo Musetti who will challenge Berrettini in the semi-final.
An important tournament, that of Stuttgart, however Matteo Berrettini who, in Germany, has already triumphed twice, in 2019 and 2022, confirming the quality of his performances on grass. Counting all the tournaments played on this surface, he has won 82.6% of them, without forgetting the final he reached at Wimbledon in 2021 and lost, in four sets, to Djokovic. A result that also propelled the Italian to the top of the world rankings, in sixth place.

In these two years, marked by injuries and repeated stops as well as by the relationship with Melissa Satta, which ended in the spring, Berrettini has often been criticized on social media. His private life has often been the object of morbid attention, a situation that has created inevitable discomfort for him.
During an interview granted to the foreign portal ‘Esquire’, Berrettini was asked about his relationship with physical beauty, being considered among the most attractive athletes. Of the charm he exerts Matteo Berrettini he is certainly aware, but he preferred an answer between the ironic and the elegant, surprising the readers.
“I think there are some good Brazilian genes in me (the reference is to the mother’s family), then I’m also Italian. Let’s say I didn’t do anythingit was a gift that my family gave me“, replied the tennis player, who however preferred to conclude immediately: “I’m embarrassed to talk about it. I am very messy and struggle to always carry an object with me. The only thing I always have here is the necklace, my mother gave it to me and I always wear it, it’s a sort of ritual of mine“.
After Stuttgart, meanwhile, Berrettini will also be on the court at Queen’s in London next week, the last preparation tournament ahead of Wimbledon.
