“I haven’t felt like this for several months. The boys care about the fate of the national team”

Gianluigi Buffonformer Juventus goalkeeper now head of delegation of the Italian national team, gave an interview to Vivo Azzurro TV on the eve of Italy’s debut at Euro 2024 against Albania.

Here are his statements reported by TMW:

BVB STADION – “I played there with Parma in the Champions League and saved two penalties (1997-98 season, 2-0 for the Germans, ed.), and I also played there and won with Juventus (3-0 in March 2015 , ed.) A complicated stadium, where the presence of the public is felt and the tension is above average. There are thrills and emotions worth experiencing.”

EVE EMOTIONS – “Particularly, I hadn’t felt this type of sensation for several months. As the important event approaches, the adrenaline rises, and therefore I imagine it is a reaction of my body compared to the 30 years I have lived at these levels. My role? I try to give my contribution to the cause: depending on what I perceive a player may be experiencing, I try to give him something extra to help him overcome a moment of difficulty or manage a moment of particular enthusiasm.”

AZZURRI – “I hope the kids can have fun, because when you get older you understand the luck you had in being a protagonist and experiencing these events. And then to demonstrate what they have demonstrated in these 10 months: they are serious kids who care about their fate of the national team, and who individually have high-level technical and moral values, we will play a leading role in the European Championship.”
