The adventure of the San Marino national team in group 4, Europe zone, of the Davis Cup begins with a great success. The concentration, hosted by the National Sport Park in Tirana, Albania, is played on hard and includes Armenia, Malta and Albania in pool A. San Marino suffered a 2-1 victory against Andorra, with the singles players prevailing over their respective opponents and the double knockout in an irrelevant match. Filippo Tommesani easily beat Guillem Davasse Vidal 6-3, 6-1, while Marco De Rossi got the better of Eric Cervos Noguer 6-3, 6-4. Then the doubles, with the pair Trilla Canchet and Servos Noguer who managed to beat Tommesani and Muraccini 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (1). The biancazzurri, captained by Domenico Vicini and guided by the head of delegation Roberto Pellandra, are trying to position themselves in one of the first two places in the group to go on to challenge one of the national teams from poule A in the match that qualifies for access to Group 3.
In the same group in San Marino, Liechtenstein beat Iceland, while in group A Armenia got the better of Albania. Meanwhile, on the courts of the Riccione Tennis Club, the Super Next Gen tournament comes to life, dedicated to the best under 16 and under 18 prospects in the north-east area. In the qualifications of the men’s tournament, the home players, Raffaele and Federico Strocchi, Luca Butti, Francesco Muratori and Alberto Maria Mami, achieved a good series of victories. In the women’s competition, Aurora Baldassarri (Ct Massa) and Alice Rossi (Ct Casalboni) enter the main draw. She beat Anastasiya Lopatina 6-1, 7-5. The competition, which will end next Sunday, sees Simone Lusini as judge, while the tournament director is Antonino Lo Paro.
