Wilier Supersonica SLR is here

Redefining the concept of speed, Supersonica SLR arrives

A synergistic challenge, months of incredibly intense work and a choral project orchestrated by Wilier’s Innovation Lab, the Swiss champion Stefan Küng and the Groupama – FDJ Performance Center: Supersonica SLR is the new time trial and triathlon frame that improves by 16 % aerodynamic efficiency compared to the Turbine SLR, the previous time trial frame from Wilier.

Supersonica SLR represents the pinnacle of Wilier’s ability to continue to innovate. A spirit also renewed by the deep collaboration born with Groupama – FDJ, which allowed this new frame to be developed in close contact with one of the best specialists in the world.

Designed for unparalleled aerodynamics

Stefan Küng, world-class time trial specialist, played a crucial role in the development of Supersonica SLR. His experience and feedback allowed every detail to be refined, ensuring that the bike perfectly met the needs of the Swiss rider.

“I am very happy and also very impressed by the work done by Wilier. The challenge was very difficult – declared Stefan Küng -. When the contract was signed between Wilier and the team in August 2023, they immediately focused 100% on the Supersonica project. Developing a bike from scratch in 9 months is already difficult, but developing the best time trial bike in 9 months is even more difficult. Seeing all the people who were involved, who worked on it for a long time, who followed me and listened to me, is a strong motivation to try to give everything I can on race day. The bike was designed to go fast, you feel it immediately when you get on it. After riding the first prototype at the beginning of 2024, we made some changes. In a short time the second prototype arrived and responded perfectly to the requests I made. I can’t wait to ride and, above all, to win!“

A mammoth job that required the construction of two prototypes, tens of kilograms of 3D printing, over 50 hours of computer simulation, 30 hours spent in the wind tunnel in Silverstone, the Suisse velodrome in Grenchen in Switzerland and on the road, in Belgium. Numbers necessary for such a demanding project, which represent the absolute dedication that Wilier has placed in this new product.
