Eyes turned to the sky and a glance at the weather forecast apps, and in the end the organizers of LaStelvioSantini were forced to move the finish line of the twelfth edition to the 1,945 meters of the Cancano Lakes. Based on the indications of ANAS and all local authorities, it was not possible to stage the traditional arrival at the Stelvio Pass.

“It will be for the next year. There were no safety conditions for the participants: the risk of avalanches is too high and for us the protection of the cyclists participating in our event remains primary” commented Mario Zangrando at the head of the organization.

And so yesterday morning 1,500 of them set off from the center of Bormio for the twelfth edition of the event which unites some of the most iconic climbs in cycling: there were 46 flags waving ideally representing the nations participating in LaStelvioSantini in this 2024 version full of innovations. In fact, as per the now consolidated regulation, there are no official rankings, but the competitors with the best sum of times on the hill climbs are rewarded with specific jerseys. So here’s who climbed onto the top step of the podium: Andrew Feather of Huntbikewheels.com and Fabiola Corona were the fastest in the ascents of the long route, which with its 124 kilometers passed Rogorbello, the feared Mortirolo climb and of course the climb to the Cancano lakes.

Simone Donghi of the Asnaghi Cucine team and Yasemin Türe distinguished themselves in the medium route of 102 kilometers (with the two last climbs of the long route), while Stefano Scala of the ASD Swatt Club team and Claudia Bertoncini of the Velo Club Forte dei Marmi ASD won the short route of 59km with the only ascent to the Cancano lakes.

Today the 100 lucky names of the finishers of today’s edition will be drawn: for them the free registration for the 2025 edition.

And for all those who want to take advantage of the discounted price for a bib for the 13th edition, the early bird promotion also starts today.

The outcome is also positive for the organisation, which this year inaugurated the new format of the event, with much appreciated innovations such as couple registrations, to tackle the chosen path together with your sporting partner. The times of the participants are available on the website lastelviosantini.com

LaStelvioSantini is an amateur event on three routes, the long one of 130 km, the medium one of 108 and the short one of 64 km, which every year attracts thousands of cyclists from all over the world with the aim of conquering one of the sacred monsters among the peaks of the great cycling, the Stelvio Pass.
