The fifth edition of BERGHEM#molamia was officially presented at Neuchatel 1928 in Fino del Monte, the renovated and fascinating location made available by the Minuscoli family. Doing the honors was Mrs. Silvia Ferri, representing the Minuscoli family, who is also president of Orobiestyle, an entrepreneurial project aimed at promoting the area.
A common objective with that of the cycling Granfondo born in 2020, just after the painful period of the pandemic, and which will take place this year in Gazzaniga (Bergamo) on Sunday 16 June. An event that has already filled up with registrations (there will be over 1,600 participants, a record) confirming the love that cycling enthusiasts have had for the Bergamo event for several years now.
An event that has become a source of pride for the territory as demonstrated by the words of the deputy mayor of the Municipality of Gazzaniga Angelo Merici: “We are proud to host such an important event and sporting reality in our territory. I believe that the success of BERGHEM#molamia is the result of a synergy of intent and the enthusiasm of an entire community that was involved with the support of many associations, volunteers and administrative bodies”.
Speaking of the participating institutions, present were Gabriele Bettineschi, president of the Mountain Community of Scalve, Rosita De Marco representing the Province of Bergamo, Mauro Livolsi, vice-chief and commander of the Bergamo Traffic Police and Lara Magoni, undersecretary with responsibility for sports and youth of the Lombardy Region.
The organizing company of the event is Sc Gazzanighese and the president Mauro Zinetti on the occasion of the evening said first of all “I must thank Silvia Ferri and the Minuscoli family for the hospitality they gave us in this splendid location”. And then he underlined: “When we started this project five years ago we had objectives: first and foremost to enhance our valleys with their mountains and lakes and allow all participants to enjoy the beauty of our territory. The second objective was to offer all participants and groups above all a day of socialization and fun. Our formula is 95 percent of the cycle touring route and the ever-growing numbers confirm that we like our area and that the formula has been a winner. A key role in this is also represented by the abundant refreshment points, almost all with zero km products and the gem of the final ‘Casoncello Party’ thanks also to the precious help given to us by the Gazzaniga Alpini. The third objective of the event was to use the proceeds of the granfondo also to support the youth activities of our club, we have always had very young and rookies and this year we have also set up a women’s team”.
Among the guests who also attended the former professional from Bergamo, twice winner of the Giro d’Italia Paolo Savoldelli: “I am happy to see this event continually growing which is very important for our territory and I must congratulate the organizers because today it is increasingly It’s difficult to organize events like this and it certainly takes a bit of courage.”
An event that is always very attentive to respect for the environment (Green Zones will be established) and safety with over 170 people involved, including service personnel, police forces and volunteers located along the 40 municipalities crossed by the event.
Special thanks were given to all the sponsors, in particular to the two main sponsors Sitip and Italianoptic.
Rita Trapletti and Paola Bertola, among the creators of the event, placed the emphasis on the issues of safety and the precious collaboration with the traders of Gazzaniga for the organization of the competition for the best shop windows and the Notte Gialla which this year will propose a even richer program.
Final curtain with the boys of the Cicli Brianza club, who have been awarded at the BERGHEM#molamia for 4 years as the largest group, who gave the organizers a special celebratory t-shirt for the five years of the company’s birth and of participation in the event that the registered members they will wear next June 16th.
There will always be three routes proposed and the Orobic Prealps are the fabulous setting for the event which also aims to make people enjoy the enchanting landscapes between the Bergamo mountains, Lake Iseo and Lake Endine.
The three routes include sections at a cycling pace, alternating with timed uphill sections that reward competitive enthusiasts. As always present, all-inclusive refreshments organized at the end of the timed sections and which guarantee moments of sharing and entertainment for groups of friends who want to experience an unforgettable day, in the name of company for ethical and healthy cycling.
These are the main characteristics of the three routes:
