The first direct comparison between the Greek and the promising young Italian is worth a lot. At stake are the first quarter-finals in a Grand Slam tournament for Matteo Arnaldi, who comes from the clear victory against world number 6 Andrey Rublev. On his way to the 4th round, he defeated French No.3 Arthur Fils in the 1st round, then repeating against another home favorite in Alexandre Muller. He lost only one set, the 2nd against the number 29 seed on his debut.
The tennis proposed against Rublev was objectively of another category compared to the Arnaldi seen in the latest outings, including the first rounds in Paris. The bungling Ligurian who didn’t take advantage of 6 set points in the 2nd set against Jarry in Rome seemed to be a bad memory against the Russian. Today, against the former finalist of the tournament in 2021 when he surrendered, squandering a two-partial advantage against Novak Djokovic.
If the blue player manages to play without pressure, but at the same time with the monstrous intensity of the previous match, nothing will be denied to him.
