Interviewed by -, the former Nerazzurri player Carlo Muraro comments on the decision of Lautaro to accept Inter’s renewal offer. “Honestly, I was surprised when I read that the contract renewal could be long-term. Luckily they found an agreement and this is the best thing for the Nerazzurri fans. Lautaro is not only the captain, but also a symbol, one of those who always fights on the pitch until the last second for the whole team. I would have been very sad if he had decided to leave for financial reasons“.
Is it right that his salary becomes so important?

“It’s right, but at the same time I believe that when you feel good in a club, in a city, in a team, the players should also think about being satisfied. If he is happy to be at Inter he must also meet the needs of the club. This is my personal thought and I believe that this was the case. It is normal that there are moments in which popularity must be exploited, also because it depends on what you showed on the pitch. But you must never go further and you cannot run after those who earn much more than you. We also need to look at the moment and understand any difficulties a club may face.”
Speaking of companies, there was a change of ownership. Does this worry you?

“It doesn’t worry me since it has already been decided to move forward with the same structure from a sporting point of view. If the same managers remain, who have worked very well up to now, without spending too much money, I’m calm. I think Oaktree’s interest is also at stake. Inter are already perfectly organised, they know who they need to buy and it is right to continue on this path. The important thing is that there is continuity from a sporting point of view and that Marotta and Ausilio, who have worked perfectly, are not questioned.”
