The Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, number 3 of seeding and the world, knows the name of the next opponent at the Roland Garros 2024 tennis: tomorrow in the round of 16 the Iberian will face the Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassimewho in the continuation of the match interrupted yesterday defeated the American Ben Shelton 6-4 6-2 6-1.
It will be about sixth match between the two, the first on red claysince all the previous ones have been played on concrete outdoor or fast indoor. The budget is in favor of the Canadian, who leads 3-2but the Iberian’s victories came in the last two direct comparisons, while those of the North American all occurred between 2021 and 2022.
In 2021 the Canadian took advantage of the withdrawal of the Spaniard in the quarterfinals of the US Openwhile in 2022 the North American won first in three sets in the group stage of the Davis Cup Finalsand then in two games in semi-final in Basel.
The Spaniard’s successes, however, were recorded between 2023 and 2024, curiously in the same tournament, the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells: last year Alcaraz won to the quarterfinals with a double 6-4while this season the clash has arrived in the round of 32 and the Iberian won 6-2 6-3.
