ALPAGO – Il Giro d’Italia 2024 a definitive decision will be made in the 184 km that will lead from Alpago to Bassano del Grappa, 4200 of altitude difference with the double climb to Monte Grappa and which will offer the last opportunity to those who want to change their ranking for the better. But it is likely that in the 20th stage we will see another Tadej Pogacar show.
Path
From the start of Alpago, on the shores of Lake Santa Croce, 30 km of plain up to the Ca’ del Poggio wall (1.2 km at 12.3%, max. 19%). The flying finish line in Possagno, located after 75.3 km, anticipates the entry into the circuit that the runners will cover twice before heading towards the finish line. Immediately after Semonzo the climb of Monte Grappa will begin (18.1 km at 8.1%, max. 14%). A long climb with numerous hairpin bends which presents the most challenging slopes in the last three kilometres. Once at the summit, after 106.1 km the descent will begin, halfway through which the runners will have to face the short but demanding (over 10%) climb of the Pianaro. Another sixteen kilometers of descent follow to Semonzo for the second climb to Monte Grappa, from whose summit there will be 30.7 kilometers to the finish line. After the second descent, we will continue to the finish line with the last four kilometers completely flat which will take the runners to the finish line in Bassano.
