Rugby: twentieth edition of the Cappello Trophy on June 1st

An event that represents, perhaps more than any other, the Iblean rugby movement and beyond.

The Cappello Trophy, now in its twentieth edition, is ready to open its doors on Saturday 1 June.

The mini-rugby festival will see clubs from all over Sicily crowding out all the moments of the event in the name of fun and enthusiasm.

Two sites were chosen for the event. The Aldo Campo stadium, in c.da Selvaggio, which will host the matches from Under 6 to Under 12, with open stands and many parents, supporters and companions expected to cheer and support their kids on the pitch.

The Rugby stadium in via Forlanini, however, will host the Under 14 matches, with the stands unfortunately not yet usable but with cheering and passion that will certainly not be lacking.

“It is perhaps our most distinctive event among the many that, both competitive and non-competitive, we organize during the year – explains the president of Ragusa Rugby, Erman Dinatale – And this is because it concerns our young people, the future, the green line of our sport. And for us, as always, style and training prevail over any sporting or competitive consideration. And the Cappello Trophy is the highest example of this way of operating”.

The vice-president of Ragusa Rugby, Paolo Sartorio, was also satisfied. “We are happy, enthusiastic, busy – he underlines – to give our kids an unforgettable event. Sport, and rugby in particular, already is in itself, but comparing yourself, competing, having fun on the pitch is priceless.”

Representatives of the Unders of Archimete, Amatori Catania, Librino, Pantere Sommatino, Fenici, Nissa, Selezione Sicilia, Cus Catania, Tauri, Malarazza, Dioscuri, Vulcano, Syrako, as well as Ragusa Rugby will be present.
