DRESSING ROOM Small steps towards the rebirth of a city hit by the earthquake but which never gave up. On Sunday 9 June, at 4pm, in Camerino, the inauguration of the new diocesan pastoral center will be held in the premises of the former seminary, in via Macario Muzio.

The commitment

Archbishop Francesco Massara was its most convinced promoter, always sensitive to the need to create meeting places for the new generations. The former seminary, damaged by the 2016 earthquake, was deemed suitable for this mission and, following a major renovation, it is now being returned to the archdiocese which, in turn, makes it available to the entire community. The new pastoral center will host some large rooms for the oratory and pastoral meetings, a listening center for the diocesan Caritas, a multipurpose environment and a spacious latest generation multimedia room. To encourage meeting and leisure opportunities, the center will also be equipped with an outdoor space equipped with a modern five-a-side football pitch, a beach volleyball pitch, as well as other green spaces for games. Thanks to the installation of an elevator, part of the building will host the Clergy House with five rooms for elderly priests who need assistance in a family environment where they can share their human and priestly experience. Thirty-three beds will be reserved for students, thus adding further availability of accommodation for university students, in addition to that already made available in the Next Generation Residence, inaugurated in the historic center of Camerino at the end of 2022.

The dedication

«For the first time, in our territory, a work has been created that can be enjoyed simultaneously by three generations: elderly people, adults and children, a significant example of sharing to promote intergenerational dialogue, despite the difference in the activities designed for each». For this reason, Massara wanted to name the different areas of the new pastoral center after some Camerino figures who left an indelible mark in everyone’s hearts: Stefania Scuri, Maurizio Cavallaro, Don Renzo Rossi and Monsignor Quinto Martella.
